Is your AirPods mic not working? Here’s how to fix it.

Check if the AirPods are properly connected to the device by going to the Bluetooth settings and reconnecting them.

Charge and Reset Your AirPods

To fix the issue of your AirPods mic not working, there are a few simple steps you can take. First, make sure your AirPods are fully charged. Connect them to a power source using the charging case and let them charge for a while.

If your AirPods are already charged, you can try resetting them. To do this, place the AirPods in the charging case, then press and hold the setup button on the back of the case until the status light flashes amber, then flashes white.

After resetting, try using the mic again to see if the issue has been resolved. If the problem persists, check for any debris or dirt in the microphone or speaker meshes and clean them gently.

You can also check if there is any background noise or interference causing the mic issue. Try using the AirPods in a different location to see if the problem persists.

Clean Your AirPods and Check Microphone Settings

  • Remove debris: Use a soft-bristled brush or compressed air to carefully remove any dirt or debris from the microphone and speaker ports of your AirPods.
  • Wipe down: Use a clean, dry microfiber cloth to gently wipe down the exterior of your AirPods and the charging case.

Check Microphone Settings

  • Access settings: Open the settings menu on your device and navigate to the Bluetooth settings.
  • Check microphone access: Ensure that the microphone access is enabled for your AirPods. You may need to toggle the setting on and off to reset it.

Restart and Update Connected Devices

If your AirPods mic is not working, one of the first things you should try is restarting and updating your connected devices. This can often resolve any connectivity issues that may be causing the problem.

To restart your AirPods, simply place them back in their charging case for at least 15 seconds and then take them out again. This can help reset the connection and resolve any minor issues.

Next, make sure that your iPhone or other connected device is up to date with the latest software. Check for any available updates in the Settings app under General > Software Update. Keeping your devices updated can help ensure compatibility and fix any bugs that may be causing the mic issue.

If the problem persists, you can also try forgetting your AirPods and then reconnecting them to your device. Go to Settings > Bluetooth, tap the “i” next to your AirPods, and select “Forget This Device.” Then, re-pair your AirPods by placing them in their case and holding the setup button on the back until the status light flashes amber.

By restarting and updating your connected devices, you can often resolve issues with your AirPods mic not working and get back to enjoying your wireless headphones without any interruptions.

Reconnect AirPods and Troubleshoot Bluetooth

To reconnect your AirPods and troubleshoot Bluetooth issues, follow these steps. First, make sure your AirPods are charged and in close proximity to your device. Then, go to your device’s settings and select Bluetooth. Look for your AirPods in the list of available devices and select them to reconnect.

If your AirPods mic is still not working, try forgetting the device and then re-pairing it. To do this, go to your device’s Bluetooth settings, find your AirPods, and select “Forget This Device.” Then, put your AirPods back in their case, close the lid, and wait for about 15 seconds. After that, open the lid and press and hold the setup button on the back of the case until the status light flashes white.
